Electronic cigarettes (“E-cigs”) are pen-like pipes that are battery-operated devices that delivers flavored or unflavored liquid nicotine. These relatively new devices have been considered by some as an alternative to cigarette and tobacco smoking, with some claiming e-cigs to be healthier than cigarettes. However, some research suggests that e-cigs have untold hazards.

Knowing E-Cigars

1. Many critics find that the deliciously named flavors and bright colors of e-cig liquids are enticing for kids. Additionally, since e-cigs have little regulation, there’s no telling what you’re truly inhaling. That’s why there are several reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that show that e-cigs are prone to accidental poisonings.

2. E-cigs still contain nicotine and other harmful chemicals like lung irritants and carcinogens. The liquid nicotine or the liquid substance used in e-cigs not only contains nicotine but may also contain other cancer-causing chemicals.

3. Since e-cigs contain nicotine, second-hand smoke is equally hazardous.

4. Likewise, since nicotine is addictive, using e-cigs may not help you curb your appetite for nicotine.
